May 11 – Houston to Dubai, UAE

Weather  – 26º, overcast, windy

Humidity – 34%

Here we are again…travel day. But first we check out Houston’s ‘Graffiti Park’. Although Graffiti Park is only about a 30 min walk from the hotel, we take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle – this shuttle will take guests anywhere in a 2-mile radius from the hotel.

Graffiti Park is on the outside of an abandoned warehouse. Although it’s called ‘graffiti’ and I guess it is, it’s more than random tags on structures, this place has become famous recently, attracting street artists from around the

world. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to walk around. It is a bit of a sketchy area, but it’s a Sunday morning and the area is about a block from the brewery district where many are gathered before this afternoon’s Astros game.

The brewery district has a very similar vibe to the few in Calgary – laidback, some outdoor space, random furniture. We try another Houston beer and queso before walking the 30 minutes back to the hotel. I think we have found the part of downtown Houston that is a bit busy. There is a convention centre, a park and a shopping district.

Booking this hotel on Chris’ Amex gives us late checkout. This is a fantastic perk. Instead of 11 or noon, we can keep the room until 4. Our pick up isn’t until 5, but since we are out of the room at 4, we get the ride a bit early.
