We took it very easy today. That isn't all that different for a typical sea day. We slept in, read, ate my in-room DIY
breakfast with the DIY coffee and didn’t leave the room until about 1030.
We put a hold on a Christmas cruise a while
back and today some space came available, so we went to confirm this with Bea,
the onboard cruise consultant.
The hold is just for a ‘guarantee’ cabin on the
Christmas cruise, but that is OK with us. Almost 100% of the time, we book the
absolute cheapest room available. On Regent, even the most basic room is big
and has a balcony – no inside or window only rooms. We aren’t really picky on
location. I don’t love rooms under the pool deck – we were in a location like
that once and could hear pool chairs moving and didn’t love it. We were also
once under a restaurant on a high deck and didn’t love that either due to the restaurant
noise. Funnily enough, those rooms tend to be the fancy-schmancy ones – for some
reason higher decks where the pool and restaurant are, are considered more desirable
room locations – the higher up you go the more motion of the ocean you get…doesn’t
seem desirable to me.
This current cruise we are off the back of the
ship which we love. We got a good price for this somewhat higher end room due
to its location only, but this happens to be over a lounge – the band never plays
past 11:15, so we are either still out at that time, or are so tired we pass
out, so this over-a-lounge location is no problem for us.
Anyway…the guarantee means we will for sure get
on the ship, but don’t have an assigned room yet. It’s a bit risky as far as location
goes, but this is all they had.
That was the excitement for the day!
I didn’t even take one photo…my phone needs a
break.
